We had to portray ethnic tendencies of Spring Summer-2010 and the prize is a scholarship in an illustration summer course >__<
We had to write about the idea depicted so I said:
Chic Diogenes in Congo depicts a journey, a metaphor of constant cultural change in globalization era. First stage of this trip studies the influence of some elements of the occidental culture in a hipotetic scenario in Black Africa, where they are unknown, turning into ready-mades , getting a new meaning. Second stage is the way back, when the aesthetics of this imaginary trube (drinking from sources such as Yoruba brides, Pieter Hugo photography or even Tintin at Congo) turns into this collection of casual clothing. If you like it, please vote!
